Chickens

The coop has an attached run which can open out for the chickens to go into the enclosed orchard area. They are fed pellets, kitchen scraps, silverbeet, kale, spinach, grape leaves, raspberry leaves, beetroot leaves, berries, curl grubs and weeds from the garden.

In autumn while moulting they have a break from laying.

2019 to 2023

Four Isa Brown chickens were purchased at the point of lay on the 19 September 2019 from Hawkesbury Layers.

The chickens started laying from the 6 October 2019, all stopped laying by the 4 September 2022. The last one died early January 2023

Eggs Laid
1st year - 1,117 eggs
2nd year - 1,050 eggs
3rd year - 349 eggs
Maintaince will be done to the coop and new chickens will be purchased.
