Youngberry
Rubus ursinus x youngberry
- Description
- A deciduous, vigorous bramble which is a hybrid of a blackberry, raspberry and dewberry. They fruit on second year canes, which are called floricanes. Height 1.8mts. The youngberry is espaliered against the chicken run. The area is 1800mm wide and 1900mm high. After fruiting has finished the old canes are removed at ground level and only the two strongest new canes are kept for next years crop, all the other new canes are removed as space is very limited and the youngberry is a vigorous plant.The image on the left shows all the growth from two canes.
